Studio Session - White Seamless
Summer 2010
Up until a few weeks ago iWP was pretty much exclusively an event photography venture. But thanks to a perfect opportunity by a close friend and local fashion entrapreneur, accompanied with a couple CreativeLive classes from ATL native Zack Arias, I felt like it was time to push forward and give the studio a try.
The job was to photograph a line of game day attire (female) for the purpose of building a website that would be used to sell the pieces. I knew the white seamless background would be the perfect back drop for the shots and thanks to the guys at king plow had the perfect studio space for the job.
Before the models arrived I phoned local talent the Mad Violinist & the Symphony Crack Orchestra to come through and take some promo shots. If you have not heard of these guys you will very soon. They are consistently impressing crowds of music lovers everytime they hit the stage. Check out a couple of their shots..
Nearing the end of the band's shoot the models and design team were ready to roll, and thanks to the symphony getting me warmed up and dialed in, so was I.
Right when we started shooting the models with the game day line it became apparent that this studio stuff could easily become something I grow to love. I got into a groove with the first model that carried over for the rest of the day. Making the models feel comfortable, directing their face, arms, and hands, controlling my settings and surroundings were all very important parts of the shoot and all actions that seemed to naturally come as the shoot went on.
Having background music playing should be mandatory in fashion studio photo sessions. It made everyone more at ease and took away any edge that may have transformed over the day. We predominately played Outkast Radio on Pandora. The hip hop really set the vibe and I think gave everyone a little boost of confidence, myself included.
The website is still under construction but as soon as it becomes official I will provide the link.
And I would like to officially thank all the models involved. Cooper, Tyler, Tata, Lynn, Jenn and Katy. Y'all all did an amazing job!
